Our Beliefs

Areopagus Education seeks to be an educational institution of the Christian “hallway,” as explained by C.S. Lewis in Mere Christianity:

“I hope no reader will suppose that “mere” Christianity is here put forward as an alternative to the creeds of the existing communions…. It is more like a hall out of which doors open into several rooms. If I can bring anyone into that hall I shall have done what I attempted.

When you have reached your own room, be kind to those who have chosen different doors and to those who are still in the hall. If they are wrong they need your prayers all the more; and if they are your enemies, then you are under orders to pray for them. That is one of the rules common to the whole house.”

Thus, we seek to be an institution that promotes unity among Christians of diverse denominations and traditions. That said, it should be noted that the founders of Areopagus Education are theologically conservative.

For those that want a bit more detail, the leaders of Areopagus Education believe in the Truth conveyed in the Apostle’s Creed. We also believe

  • There is one God. He exists in three distinct persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
  • Jesus Christ “…died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.”
  • The Holy Spirit is one with the Father and Son. The Spirit guides us, comforts us, intercedes for us, and is active in the world today.
  • The Holy Scriptures are inspired by God and are without error in their original forms.
  • Salvation cannot be earned. It is a gift from God made available through Christ crucified to those that believe.
